Fisher Cup 2005: The Best Yet?
Whether it was the quality squash,  John Eisaman's silky organisation, or the tasty
hors d'oeuvres washed down with $3 pints of Guiness, most everything seemed to go well at this year's Fisher Cup. The proceedings reached a climax at the SCLA social on Saturday night when, against all odds, an awe inspired crowd of over fifty witnessed an emotional Marcus Rosenlehner accept an award for best comeback player after nearly dying from a stroke late last year. Other awards were presented to Mary Frances Ford (Sportwswoman of the Year), Desi Bernard (Most Improved Player), Wendy Lawrence (Lifetime Achievement) and Steve Hufford (Sportsman of the Year). Meantime, Rod Barnes took his second Fisher Cup Div 1 title after surviving an arm wrestle with Sean Doherty, and Bettina Aten cruised to her first Division 2 title. Check the full details from all divisions.

The Fisher Cup social night was very successful this year, and the NCSRA plans to capitalize on this by putting in significant effort to grow the event in future. In future years, it is planned that this will be the NCSRA's  major annual ceremony for making announcements and to hand out awards earned throughout the previous year. Book it in your calendars!!
