April
23, 2003 - Playoffs
Tysons had only lost four of 18 matches
during the regular season, while Sports Club/LA had lost
half of theirs, but close observers knew the two teams
were well-matched for the playoffs. In their head-to-head
matches during the season, Tysons had only a slight edge.
They had dominated everyone at #2, but at #1, Sheila
Reynolds (SCLA) and Elizabeth Dupree (Tysons), had split
their two regular-season matches, as is their custom; and
at #3, Martha Gaston of SCLA is the league's premier
player. She had won her one match against Tysons, but had
been unavailable for the other matchup.
When the two teams met at Results to
decide the championship, Sports Club/LA prevailed, with
Reynolds and Gaston winning at #1 and #3, while A.J.
Jaffin took the #2 match for Tysons. Meanwhile, Results
had the edge over Worldgate for 3rd place.
