Referee Certification

Hunt Richardson Offers a Referee Clinic

At 11:00 am on Saturday, January 4, 2003, I will offer a 2.5 hour Squash Rules and Referee class at the Sports Club/LA in Washington, DC. The class will prepare participants to pass the USSRA's Club Certification Examination. It will consist of a lecture with video support, question and answer time and supplies, including a copy of The Rules of Squash, the Referee's Phrasebook, lunch and the option for participants to take the written USSRA examination, which takes about an hour. Students also have the option of turning in their exam answer sheets to me at the site, or faxing them to me for grading. A minimum score of 80% is needed to pass the exam.

Since each league team is required to have two USSRA Club Certified Referees, and since juniors must pass the exam to be qualified for national rankings, the exam is an essential part of organized squash in the NCSRA. The fee for the course is $25 per person. Please contact me to register for the clinic.

The USSRA, as part of its continuing program to increase player awareness of the rules and upgrade the quality of play in American club matches, has created an excellent "Rules and Referees" page that includes all the materials needed to become a Certified Club Level Referee."
